Problems getting to the next level in Freelancer (832781)

SYMPTOMS

You may experience any one of the following symptoms while you are playing Microsoft Freelancer:

You have a higher net worth than you need to level up, and you do not level up.
You have completed a mission that you need to level up, and you do not level up.
You are not contacted about your next mission.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur for the following reasons:

The value that is listed in Next Level Requirement shows you how much net worth you are short of leveling up, not the goal amount.
You have varied from the story line.
You are playing with a game that was previously saved from the demo version.

RESOLUTION

If you have to increase your net worth and you have completed your current mission, you must take on some jobs to earn additional credits. As you are paid for these jobs, the value in Next Level Requirement will decrease.

If you earn more money and increase your net worth until the player status shows that you do not have to earn anymore or complete a mission, and you do not advance, there may be a problem with your saved game. You must follow the game story line to complete the game.

To start with an earlier saved game, follow these steps :

Back up a copy of the saved games.

Copy the SinglePlayer folder in My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts to a different location on the hard disk.
Start Freelancer.
Click Load Game.
Load a saved game from 1-3 levels before the current level.
After you load the game, click Player Status.

Note the values of Current Level, Current Worth, and Next Level Requirement.
Continue to play the game exactly according to the story line and collect the amount that appears in Next Level Requirement.

Do not visit any other systems, unless you receive a mission that is based on the story, or you receive instructions from the in-game characters. Verify that you can advance to the next level.
After you advance to the next level, check the player status.

Note the values of Current Level, Current Worth, and Next Level Requirement.
