SUMMARYYou receive the " Internal Error
2755.1631" error message during installation. The Setup program cannot access the Installer folder, or the user account may be corrupted. To resolve this behavior, modify the permissions in the Installer folder. If this does not resolve the behavior, you can install the program from a different administrator account. SYMPTOMSWhen you try to install any one of the products in the
"Applies To" section, you may receive an error message that resembles the following: Internal Error
2755.1631 CAUSEThis behavior occurs if either one of the following
conditions is true:
- You do not have permission to the Installer
folder.
- Your Microsoft Windows XP account is corrupted or is
damaged.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, use the following methods in
the order that they appear. Method 1: Verify that you have permissions in the Installer folderNote Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- On the desktop, double-click My
Computer.
- Locate, and then open the Windows folder.
- Right-click the Installer folder, and then
click Properties. If the Installer folder is not visible,
follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click
Folder Options.
- On the View tab, click to select the
Show hidden files and folders check box.
- On the View tab, click to clear the
Hide protected operating system files check box.
- Click OK.
- On the Security tab, verify that the
Everyone group has read and write permissions.
- On the General tab, click to clear the
Read-only check box.
- Click OK.
If you are prompted to
confirm the attribute change, click Apply change to this folder,
subfolders and files, and then click OK. - Try to install the program.
If the behavior continues, go to the next method. Method 2: Install from a different profile or from a new profileNote These steps are for Windows XP only. If you have
multiple accounts on this computer, try to install the program from a different
administrator account. If you do not have another administrator account, create
a new administrator account. Depending on your version of Windows XP, use the
appropriate steps. Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition- Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Click User Accounts.
- In the Pick a task list box, click
Create a new account.
- Type the name that you want to use for the account, and
then click Next.
- Click to select the Computer
administrator check box, and then click Create
Account.
- Log off, and then sign in as the new user.
- Try to install the program.
Microsoft Windows XP Professional- Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Click User Accounts.
- On the Users tab, click
Add.
- Type a name for your user account, your full name, and a
description for your account. If your computer is set up as part of a
client/server network, type the domain name, and then click
Next.
Note If your computer is set up as an individual computer (without a
network) or in a peer-to-peer network, you do not have to provide a domain
name. - Type a user password, and then type the user password again
to confirm it.
Important Passwords are case sensitive. For example, MyPassword and mypassword are treated as two different passwords. - Click Next.
- Select the level of access for your user account, and then
click Finish.
- Log off, and then sign in as the new user.
- Try to install the program.
