Nested folders are not created correctly with Server for NFS when you share the root drive on Windows Server 2003 (832745)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.0
SYMPTOMSOn a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based computer that has Microsoft Windows Services for UNIX 3.0 installed, you may experience a problem when you share the root drive as a Network File System (NFS) shared resource.
Although you can successfully create a folder from the UNIX box, if you try to create any additional nested folders, the new folders are created in the root of the directory as an anonymous user.CAUSEThis problem occurs because the correct path is not passed correctly. As a result, the nested folders are created in the root directory, instead of in the nested folder.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use one of the following methods: - Use Services for UNIX version 3.5 on Windows Server 2003.
- Add Anonymous Logon to the Everyone group.
To add Anonymous Logon to the Everyone group, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative
Tools, and then click either Local Security Policy or Domain
Security Policy (on a domain controller).
- In Security Settings, double-click Local Policies, and then
click Security Options.
- Right-click Network access: Let Everyone permissions apply to
anonymous users, and then click Properties.
- To allow permissions that are applied to the Everyone group to also apply to anonymous users, click Enabled.
