Internet Explorer Displays a Blank Page and May Appear to Stop Responding on Windows 2000 (832624)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on Microsoft Windows 2000, Internet Explorer may display a blank page and may appear to stop responding (hang).

Note If you press F5 to update the Web page, Internet Explorer may not correctly display the page. This problem does not occur in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 when used with Microsoft Windows XP.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when you load a page that contains frames and the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) contains a long query string.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the November 2003 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer.
