The NFS group changes for when you open documents in Windows 2000 or Windows XP (832621)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Services for Unix 3.0
  • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000
  • the operating system: Microsoft Windows XP

SYMPTOMS

When you use the network file system (NFS) Gateway Service to access files on a remote NFS Server, you may notice that the file permissions will be set differently if you open or you edit the file by using a Microsoft Windows 2000 Client or a Microsoft Windows XP Client. When you open a document from a shared NFS folder under Windows XP, the NFS group that has read, write, and execute permissions for the document changes to your default NFS group if the original NFS group was different.
