How to download and install the update
Client update
If you installed Outlook 2003 from the Microsoft Office 2003
CD-ROM, you have either one of the following two options:
- Use the Microsoft Office Product Updates Web site to
automatically install all the latest updates that include all available service
packs and public updates.
- Install only the Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter Update:
KB832333 by following the steps that are described later in this
article.
Note Microsoft recommends that you install the update by using the
Office Product Updates Web site. The Office Product Updates Web site detects
your particular installation of Microsoft Office and prompts you to install
exactly what you must have to make sure that your Office installation is
completely up-to-date.

required updates that you must install on your computer, visit the following

After detection is complete, you receive a list of recommended
updates for your approval. Click
Start Installation to
complete the process.
Only install the Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter Update: KB832333To download and to install the client update, follow
these steps:
- Download the update.
The following file is available for download from the Microsoft

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most
current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file
was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to
prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
- Click Save to save the
Office2003-KB832333-client-enu.exe file to the selected folder.
- In Microsoft Windows Explorer, locate the folder where you
downloaded the file, and then double-click the
Office2003-KB832333-client-enu.exe file.
- When you are prompted to install the update, click
Yes.
- Click Yes to accept the License
Agreement.
- If you are prompted to do so, insert your Office 2003
CD-ROM in your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then click
OK.
- When you receive a message that indicates that the
installation was successful, click OK.
Note After you install the update, you cannot remove it. To revert to
an installation before the update was installed, you must remove Outlook 2003
and then install it again from the original CD-ROM.
Administrative update
If you installed Outlook 2003 from a server location, the server
administrator must update the server location with the administrative update
and deploy that update to your computer.
If you are the server
administrator, follow these steps to download the administrative update:
- Download the update.

where Admin Path is the path of your
administrative installation point for your Office 2003 product (for example,
C:\Office2003), MSI File is the .msi database
package for the Office 2003 product (for example, Pro11.msi), and
MSP File is the name of the administrative update
(for example, Outlfltr-FullFile-GLB.msp).
Note You can append /qb+ to the command line so that the Office 2003
Administrative Installation dialog box and the End User
License Agreement dialog box do not appear. - To deploy the update to the client workstations, click
Start, and then click Run.
In the
Open box, type the following command, and then click
OK msiexec /i Admin
Path\MSI File
REINSTALL=Feature List REINSTALLMODE=vomus
where Admin Path is the path of your
administrative installation point for your Office 2003 product (for example,
C:\Office 2003), MSI File is the MSI database
package for the Office 2003 product (for example, Pro11.msi), and
Feature List is the list of feature names (case
sensitive) that have to be reinstalled for the update. To install all features,
you can use REINSTALL=ALL, or you can install the following feature:

How to determine whether the update is installed
The update contains an updated version of the following file:

Note The date and time for this file is listed in coordinated
universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to
local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the
Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
To determine whether the update is installed on your computer, follow
these steps.
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the
following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your
product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, and then click
Search.
- Under Search Companion, click All
files and folders.
- In the All or part of the file name box,
type Outlfltr.dat, and then click
Search.
- In the right pane, right-click the
Outlfltr.dat file, and then click Properties.
- On the General tab, verify the
Created date, time, and size of the Outlfltr.dat file that is
installed on your computer.
Note If the Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter Update: KB832333 is
already installed on your computer, you receive the following error message
when you try to install the Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter Update:
KB832333:
This update has already been applied or is
included in an update that has already been applied.
