The version number of SMS 2003 is 2.50.2726.
xxxx. The final four digits of the version number indicate the SMS service pack level, the hotfix level, and the International Client Pack (ICP) level of the component. The following list describes the version number range and the corresponding service level:
- x000 through x099= ENU release candidates and the original release
- x100 through x399= ENU hotfixes
- x400 through x499 = ICP1 release candidates and the original release
- x500 through x699 = ICP1 hotfix range
- x700 through x799 = ICP2 release candidates and the original release
- x800 through x999 = ICP2 hotfix range
Server Components
To determine the version number of the server software, right-click the site name in the
Site Hierarchy node of the SMS Administrator Console, and then click
Properties.
To determine the version of the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that is installed on the computer, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type MMC, and then click OK.
- On the Help menu, click About Microsoft Management Console.
To determine the version number of Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) that is installed on the computer, follow these steps:
- In Windows Explorer, locate %Windir%\System32\Wbem\Winmgmt.exe.
- Right-click Winmgmt.exe, click Properties, and then click the Version tab.
Client Components
To determine the version number of the client components, use either of the following methods. (The client components are also known as the "base components.")
Use the Compver.ini file To use the Compver.ini file to determine the version number, follow these steps:
- Use Windows Explorer to locate the SMS\Inboxes\Clicomp.src\Base folder.
- Double-click Compver.ini to open the file in Notepad. Compver.ini is a text-only file that contains component version of the client.
Use the Systems Management tool on the client To use the Systems Management tool to determine the version number, follow these steps:
- In Control Panel, double-click Systems Management.
- Click the Components tab to view the individual component versions.
To determine the version number of specific files, right-click the file name in Windows Explorer, click
Properties, and then click the
Version tab.
United States English version number
The version number of the U.S. English version of Systems Management Server 2003 is 2.50.2726.0000. The primary version number is 2.5. The product build number is 2726.
The version number of WMI that is included with Systems Management Server 2.50.2726.0000 is version 1.50.1085.1.
Later version numbers and build numbers are not overwritten with earlier version numbers and build numbers when you install an SMS service pack.
You can use the file version to identify the SMS service pack, the international client pack, and the hotfix that is installed. These minor releases and revisions are reflected in the last four digits of the SMS version number.
Service Packs
The first digit of the last four numbers in the file version indicates the service pack. For example, the version number 2.50.2726.1000 indicates that SMS 2003 Service Pack 1 is installed.
International Client Packs
The second digit of the last four numbers in the version number indicates the ICP that is installed. For example, the version number 2.50.2726.0400 indicates that ICP1 is installed. The version number 2.50.2726.0700 indicates that ICP2 is installed.
Note ICP1 can be represented by the range 2.50.2726.0400 through 2.50.2726.0699. ICP2 can be represented by the range 2.50.2726.0700 through 2.50.2726.0999.
Hotfixes:
The last three digits of the file version indicate the hotfix version number. The hotfix version range for the base SMS 2003 product is 2.50.2726.0100 through 2.50.2726.0399. The hotfix version range for ICP1 is 2.50.2726.0500 through 2.50.2726.0699. The hotfix version range for ICP 2 is 2.50.2726.0800 through 2.50.2726.0999.
Note A service pack will replace any ICP files that are already installed. You must install a new ICP service pack when available to restore ICP functionality.
