Dsquery shows the primary domain controller emulator role owner when it queries for the Infrastructure Master role owner in Windows Server 2003 (831994)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the dsquery server -hasfsmo infr command to identify the Infrastructure Master role owner, Dsquery incorrectly reports the primary domain controller (PDC) emulator role owner.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, run one of the following commands instead:
  • Dumpfsmos DomainController

    Note Replace DomainController with the name of a domain controller in any domain in the forest.
  • Netdom query fsmo
  • Netdiag
To install Netdom.exe and Netdiag.exe, run the \Support\Tools\Suptools.msi Microsoft Windows Installer file that is on your Microsoft Windows Server 2003 CD. To obtain and to install Dumpfsmos.exe, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
