The information in the Bcc field of messages is missing after you move mailboxes from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 (831918)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5

SYMPTOMS

After you move mailboxes from Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 to Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, information that is contained in the Bcc field of some e-mail messages is missing. This problem affects messages that are in your users' Sent Items folders.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the mailbox contains messages that the users sent to themselves and to other recipients. Additionally, both of the following conditions must be present:
  • The To field of the message contains the e-mail address of the user who sent the message.
  • The Bcc field of the message contains the e-mail address of other recipients.
In this situation, Exchange Server 5.5 incorrectly processes the information that is contained in the Bcc field of messages that are stored in your users' Sent Items folders when you move the mailboxes.
