You receive an "mmc.exe - Application Error" message when you close Event Viewer on a Windows 2000-based computer (831885)

SYMPTOMS

After you view an event in Event Viewer on a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following when you close Event Viewer:
mmc.exe - Application Error Message:
The instruction at "Memory_Address" referenced memory at "Memory_Address". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the directory search cache refers to objects in a module that has been unloaded when the global cache's deconstructor is called.
