Cannot change the data type in a Parameter Query in Microsoft Query 2002 (831592)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you try to change the data type in a Parameter Query in Microsoft Query 2002, the Data type list box is not available.

CAUSE

This behavior is a design change in Microsoft Query 2002. The Data type list box is not available (turned off) when the database driver supports the SQLDescribeParam command. This behavior does not occur when you use Microsoft Query 2002 with a Microsoft Access database.
