FIX: Changes to a bitmap resource are lost when the bitmap location is moved to a different folder in a Visual C# .NET solution (831536)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (2003), Enterprise Architect Edition
- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (2003), Enterprise Developer Edition
- Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (2003), Professional Edition
SYMPTOMSWhen a bitmap resource is modified and is moved to a different folder in a Microsoft Visual C# .NET solution without saving the bitmap first, the changes that are made to the bitmap resource are lost. If the solution is closed and then reopened, two bitmap resources are present. One bitmap resource is in the original location and the other bitmap resource is in the folder where the bitmap was moved.CAUSEThis problem occurs because Microsoft Visual Studio .NET performs a copy operation instead of performing a move operation to move the bitmap to the new location. This problem only occurs when changes are made to the bitmap and it is moved before the changes are saved.RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
