FIX: BizTalk Server Accelerator for HIPAA Cannot Handle Special Characters in the ISA02__AuthorizationInformation Field of a Message (831533)

SYMPTOMS

If your HIPAA message has an ampersand (&), an angle bracket (> or <), an apostrophe ('), or a quotation mark ('') special character in the ISA02__AuthorizationInformation field, Microsoft BizTalk Server Accelerator for HIPAA cannot process the message, and you receive the following error message in the application log:An error occurred in BizTalk Server.

[0x1433] The parser failed to convert the document due to processing errors. See the following messages for details.
[0x1441] Document #1 within submission "{0D7B7A23-78D7-4597-AB73-250E54055A19}" was returned as a document that was not valid from the parser component named "BizTalk.ParserHipaaX12.1". The most frequent cause is a document specification that is not valid or else the component was unable to determine the necessary routing fields. Verify that the proper specification is defined for this data.
[0x1730] Suspended Queue ID: "{A04F6358-23A6-41CD-B986-E3108A2A842D}"

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next BizTalk Server Accelerator for HIPAA 2.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.
