FIX: Your computer may randomly stop responding when you use the Printer object in Visual Basic for Windows 6.0 (831476)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visual Basic Professional Edition for Windows 6.0
  • Microsoft Visual Basic Enterprise Edition for Windows 6.0, when used with:
    • Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 SP5

SYMPTOMS

Your computer may randomly stop responding when you use the Printer object in Microsoft Visual Basic for Windows 6.0. This behavior may occur when either of the following conditions is true:
  • You are using more than one installed printer.
  • You are using DEVMODE buffers that are different sizes.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
