"Instruction at '0x77f93245' Referenced Memory 0x000f1008" Error Message When an RDP Client Logs Off of a Terminal Server (831423)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
SYMPTOMSWhen you use a remote desktop protocol (RDP) client to connect to a Microsoft Windows 2000-based Terminal Services computer, you may receive the following Dr. Watson error message when you log off the Terminal Services session: The
instruction at '0x77f93245' referenced memory 0x000f1008: The memory could not
be read. Additionally, after you receive this error message
on the server, all Terminal Services client sessions are disconnected, and no
new sessions can be established. Terminal Services clients receive the
following error message: Remote connections
might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new
connections. It is also possible that the network problems are preventing your
connections. CAUSEThis issue occurs if more than 1,640 users and groups are listed on the RDP-Tcp
Properties Permissions tab in the Terminal Server Configuration Manager. When this condition is true, the
security descriptor for the remote user is inadvertently released, because the
maximum limit for the buffer that stores the access control entries (ACEs) has been exceeded.
