SYMPTOMS
Some agent computers may be removed from the Components\Agents view in MOM Administrator Console in Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 if you have MOM 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed. For example, all installed agent computers may not appear after you follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Operations Manager, and then click MOM Administrator Console.
- Expand Components, and then click Agents.
Additionally, you may experience the following symptoms:
- You may receive an error 53 in MOM Administrator Console.
- The following entry may appear in the Agent Manager (AM) log, where agent_name is the name of the managed computer:Ping failed for computer agent_name
RESOLUTION
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next MOM 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.
