FIX: A Visual C++ 2003 MFC Application quits silently when the OnDraw function is used and optimization is turned on (831380)

SYMPTOMS

If you run a release version of a Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) application that was built in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 with optimization turned on, the MFC application quits silently. This behavior occurs when the OnDraw function is used to draw a zone.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 Service Pack that contains this hotfix.

The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, turn off optimization of the OnDraw function by using the following code:
