Error Message When You Run the MCMS 2002 SP1 DCA Against an MCMS 2002 SP1a Database (831316)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 Service Pack 1 (SP1) version of the Database Configuration Application (DCA) against an MCMS 2002 Service Pack 1a (SP1a) (Refresh) version of the database, you receive the following error message:
Patch table has invalid data. Cannot determine migration path

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the MCMS 2002 SP1a DCA updates the MCMS 2002 database. Because the MCMS 2002 SP1 version of the DCA does not correctly recognize the label that the MCMS 2002 SP1a version of the DCA inserts, the MCMS 2002 SP1 DCA incorrectly determines that the database is not valid or that the database contains data that is not valid.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, replace the _dca.ini file in the \<MCMS_Root>\Server\Setup Files\SQL Install\ folder on the MCMS 2002 SP1 server with the same file from the MCMS 2002 SP1a server. After you replace this file, the DCA recognizes the new label.

STATUS

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 SP1.
