Media Center stops responding when you press the Fast Forward button or the Rewind button (831268)

SYMPTOMS

While you are viewing a media file, when you press the Fast Forward button or the Rewind button, your Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition-based computer may stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the media becomes unavailable while you are viewing recorded video content from a CD-ROM drive, DVD-ROM drive, or a shared network drive. For example, this problem occurs if the CD or the DVD is ejected from the disc drive, and then you press Fast Forward or Rewind.
