File Menu Is Selected When You Type a Forward Slash Mark (/) as the First Character in a Cell (831237)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to type a forward-slash mark (/) as the first
character in a cell of a Microsoft Excel 2002 worksheet, the
File menu is selected.CAUSEThis behavior occurs because the forward slash mark (/)
keystroke can be used to activate the Microsoft Excel menu bar or start Help
for Lotus 1-2-3 users.RESOLUTIONTo prevent this behavior, delete the forward slash mark (/)
keystroke as a setting. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click
Options.
- On the Transition tab, delete or change
the character in the Microsoft Excel menu or Help key
box.
- Click OK to close the
Options dialog box.
