A user cannot be moved to a different business unit in Microsoft Business Solutions CRM version 1.0 (831184)

SYMPTOMS

Trying to move a user to another business unit using the Microsoft® Business Solutions CRM application fails and an error message is generated in the application log in Event Viewer. The error message is:

Error: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80044005.
Error Message: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80044005.
Error Details: Details on this error have not been provided by the platform.

CAUSE

The user record that is trying to be moved is itself a manager of other users. When a user is a manager of other users, the user record cannot be moved to another business unit in Microsoft CRM.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is intended to correct only the problem that this article describes. Apply the hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this problem.
