"IPG Requires SQL Server Standard Edition" Error Message When You Install IPG (831098)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft TV Interactive Program Guide (IPG), you may receive the following error message immediately after Setup is completed, and then the installer quits:
IPG Requires SQL Server Standard Edition
You may receive this message although you have Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition installed.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if an error occurred when you installed SQL Server.

RESOLUTION

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

If you have SQL Server installed, add the following two keys to your registry under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer\CurrentVersion:
  • Type Reg_SZ, Name=CSDVersion, Value=8.00.760
  • Type Reg_DWord, Name=CSDVersionNumber, Value=300 (Hex)
