Shapes are rearranged and text is offset when you open a Visio 2003 .dwg file in AutoCAD (831069)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Office Visio 2003 drawing in your AutoDesk AutoCAD program, shapes may be rearranged in the drawing and text may be offset.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you save your Visio 2003 drawing as an AutoCAD Drawing (*.dwg) file in Visio 2003.

WORKAROUND

There is currently no known workaround for this problem.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.

To save your Visio 2003 file as an AutoCAD file, follow these steps:
  1. Start Visio 2003, and then open your Visio drawing.
  2. On the File menu, click Save As.
  3. In the Save As dialog box, change the Save as type box to AutoCAD Drawing (*.dwg), and then click Save.
