FIX: Incorrect Results Are Returned If a Slice Occurs on a Virtual Dimension in a Cube That Has Multiple Partitions (831046)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services 64 bit

BUG #: 14183 (Plato7x)

Plato 7x:14183

SYMPTOMS

If a Multidimensional Expression (MDX) contains a WHERE clause (slice) on a virtual dimension, and the cube in the query contains more than one partition, the results of the MDX query may not be correct.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services does not correctly filter the partitions when it uses a virtual dimension in the WHERE clause of the MDX statement. Analysis Services filters the partitions based on the member from the master dimension of the virtual dimension and returns results that are not correct.
