You cannot edit handwriting graphics in OneNote 2003 (831039)

SYMPTOMS

When you enter handwritten text on to a Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 page, and then you click Convert Handwriting to Text on the Tools menu, some of the text disappears.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you use the Erase tool to erase handwritten text and then handwrite new text in the same location. This new handwriting is not connected to the original handwriting. So when you convert the handwriting to text, the new handwriting is discarded.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 Service Pack 1.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do one of the following:
  • Convert the handwriting to text, and then correct any misspellings or otherwise edit the text.
  • Delete all the handwritten text and re-create the handwritten text from scratch.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in OneNote 2003 Service Pack 1.
