You cannot modify pages in a shared notebook in OneNote 2003 (831034)

SYMPTOMS

You cannot modify or create new entries on a page in a notebook that is shared on a network in Microsoft Office OneNote 2003.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the shared notebook has been searched and the page or pages have been viewed by another user, and that person has not closed the notebook. In this situation, OneNote 2003 does not release the file locks that were set by the other person.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, the user who searched the notebook must close the notebook. This will release the file locks that were set. The other person can then reopen the notebook and view the contents.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
