Your computer responds slowly when you work with XML documents in Word 2003 (831026)

SYMPTOMS

When you are working with an XML document in Microsoft Office Word 2003, your computer responds slowly when you scroll, you move through, or you work with the document.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, turn off the Check grammar as you type and the Check grammar with spelling options. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Word 2003 Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click the Spelling & Grammar tab.
  3. Under Grammar, click to clear the Check grammar as you type check box.
  4. Click to clear the Check grammar with spelling check box.
  5. Click OK.
If your computer is still responding slowly, turn off the Smart tags option. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the View tab, click to clear theSmart tags check box.
  3. Click OK.
