The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works Suite 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print a project in Microsoft Picture It! Photo, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
  • Picture It! Photo may stop responding, and the project does not print
  • The project prints, but text does not print in the text boxes.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you have added Jazzy Effects to the text in your project.

When you create a project in Picture It! Photo, the project includes multi layered objects, and the project is saved as a Picture It! PNGPlus file. When you add Jazzy Effects, you create complex multi-layered objects in the project that may not print on some print devices.

Not all Jazzy Effects will cause this issue. Jazzy Effects that are known to cause this issue include the following:
  • Textured - Wave
  • Textured-Grass
  • Artistic-Colored Pencils
  • Fun-Fiesta

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you may do any one of the following.

Do not use Jazzy Effects

Re-create your project, but do not format the text by using Jazzy Effects.

Save the Jazzy Effect text as a JPEG file

If you want to use the Jazzy Effect text in your project, but you cannot print the text in the Picture It! PNGPlus file, you can save the text as a JPEG file, and then drag the text cut out into your project. JPEG files create single layered objects that will print on most printer devices. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Picture It! Photo.
  2. In the Pick a Design pane, in the All Types of Designs area, click Blank Projects.
  3. In the Select a subcategory for "Blank Projects" area, click Standard Paper.
  4. Double-click one of the flyer pictures.
  5. Click Add something, point to Text, and then click Plain text.
  6. In the text box, type the text that you want to use in your project.
  7. Click Change formatting, and the click Jazzy Effects.
  8. Click a Jazzy Effect category, click the Jazzy Effect that you want to use, and then at the bottom of the pane, click Done.
  9. On the File menu, click Save.
  10. In the Save pane, in the Save as this type list, click JPEG File Interchange Format.
  11. Click to clear the Catalog item in the Gallery check box, and then click Save.
  12. On the File menu, click Close.
  13. On the File menu, click the name of the file that you just closed to reopen the project as a single layer object.
  14. Click Add Something, point to Picture, Cutout or Clip, and then click Create a Cutout.
  15. In the Cut Out of Picture pane, click By color selection.
  16. Under Select areas, click All similar areas.
  17. Under Drag the slider to change the range of colors, click and hold the arrow, drag the arrow to the left until the number in the box next to the slider is 0, and then release the arrow.
  18. In the project pane, click the white background with the color picker, and then click Next.
  19. In the Cut Out of Picture pane, click Select Opposite Area, click In a separate project , and then click Done.
  20. In the tray, click the project that you want to use the Jazzy Effect text in to open the project in the right pane.
  21. From the tray, drag the cut out that you created into the open project.
  22. Position the Jazzy Effect text where you want it to appear in your project, and then print your project.
Note Because the JPEG file is single layered, you cannot edit the Jazzy Effects text. If you want to change the text that is in the cut out, you must save the file that the cut out came from as a Picture It! PNGPlus file, make your changes, and then follow the previous procedure to create the cut out again.
