BUG: You receive a Bugcheck 0xe6 error when you use the Audio Codec 97 Driver Development Kit (DDK) sample (830343)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Driver Development Kit (DDK)
SYMPTOMSThere have been reports that the Audio Codec 97 (AC97)
Driver Development Kit (DDK) sample file causes a Bugcheck 0xE6 error during
audio processing (that is, during playback of audio or while the sound card
records audio). This can cause the computer to stop responding or to display a
stop code error on a blue screen that indicates this Bugcheck
error.
This problem occurs when you use the AC97Smpl.sys driver file
that the sample builds.CAUSEThis problem occurs because parameter 1 of the bugcheck
is set to 0x0F. This setting indicates that either the driver or the hardware
wrote past the end of its allocated Direct Memory Access (DMA)
buffer.RESOLUTIONThere is no known resolution for this problem right now.
