Public folder messages are not synchronized with the subscriber organization in Exchange 2003 (830103)

SYMPTOMS

During public folder replication, some messages may not be synchronized with the subscriber organization. Entries that are similar to the following are logged in the replication log file: ERROR: Unable to modify recipients on message [SK=B5FBF0555B217B42B7F585C40F997BA10000000D78C8] in folder '\IORepl1\IORepl4\juno102' on server [INTERORG4], call failed.

ERROR: ICS Synchronizer returned error, failed [80004005].

ERROR: Unable to replicate '[INTERORG3]\IORepl1\IORepl4\juno102' to '[INTERORG4]\IORepl1\IORepl4\juno102'.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
