SUMMARY

Microsoft Works for Windows saves backup files to the directory that contains the actual file. There is currently no way to tell Works for Windows to save backup files to another drive or directory.

The backup file has the same name as the actual file except for its extension. The extensions are as follows:

Works ModuleFile Extension
Word Processor.BPS
Spreadsheet.BKS
Database.BDB

MORE INFORMATION

To tell Works to automatically make backup copies, use the following steps:

  1. From the File menu, click Save As.
  2. Select the Make Backup Copy check box.
  3. Click OK.
To open a backup copy, use the following steps:

  1. From the File menu, click Open Existing File.
  2. In the List Files Of Type box, click All Files.
  3. In the File Name box, click the backup file name from the list.
  4. Click OK.
