You cannot set security settings by using the Custom Installation Wizard in Visio 2003 (829935)

Wizard, you cannot set the security level for Microsoft Office Visio
2003.CAUSEThis problem occurs because Visio 2003 is not listed in the
Default Security Levels box of the Specify Office
Security Settings pane (12 of 15) of the Custom Installation
Wizard.WORKAROUNDWarning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk. To work around this problem, add a registry key to
the Custom Installation Wizard to change the Security Level for Visio 2003. To
do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to All
Programs, point to Microsoft Office, point to
Microsoft Office Tools, point to Microsoft Office 2003
Resource Kit, and then click Custom Installation
Wizard.
- On the Add/Remove Registry Entries pane (9
of 15) of the Custom Installation Wizard, click Add on the
Add Registry Entry tab.
- In the Add/Modify Registry Entry dialog
box, follow these steps:
- Change the Root box to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
- Change the Data type box to
REG_DWORD.
- In the Key box, type
Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Visio\Security.
- In the Value name box, type
Level.
- In the Value data box, type the number
for the security level that you want to set for Visio 2003.
Note Type the number that you want for the security level in Visio
2003 based on the following table.
| Setting | Security Level | Description | | 4 | Very High | Only macros that are
installed in trusted locations can run. All other signed and unsigned macros
are disabled. | | 3 | High | Only signed macros from
trusted sources can run. Unsigned macros are automatically disabled. | | 2 | Medium | You can choose if you want
to run macros that are potentially unsafe. | | 1 | Low | You are not protected from
macros that are potentially unsafe. |
- Click OK to close the
Add/Modify Registry Entry dialog box.
- Click Next, and then finish the Custom
Installation Wizard.
