The "Compare Software Inventory on Two Computers" Report Reports Files That Are the Same as Different (829812)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the "Compare software inventory on two computers" report to compare the software inventory data of two client computers, a file that is the same on both computers is incorrectly reported as different.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you run software inventory on a file that has a date modified value that is in the future. In this scenario, a null value is recorded in the Software Inventory table for the file's date modified value.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, modify the file properties to reset the date modified value, and then redistribute the program. When you next run software inventory, the correct date modified value is recorded.
