Table does not appear as you expect when you create a note in a table format in OneNote 2003 (829710)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office OneNote 2003
  • Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, Service Pack 1 (SP1)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a note in a table format in Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, the table does not appear as you expect.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because OneNote 2003 does not have a table feature.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can use a horizontal outline structure to present information in a table format in OneNote 2003.

When you create a horizontal outline structure, the leftmost column is the highest level in the outline hierarchy, and the rightmost column is the lowest level in the outline hierarchy. Although this structure is different from a table, you can use it to organize information in columns.

Note A table is defined as one or more rows of cells that are generally used to display numbers and other items for quick reference and analysis. Items in a table are organized in rows and in columns.

To use a horizontal outline to make columns, follow these steps:
  1. Type the content in the first column.
  2. Press TAB, and then write the content of the next column.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Start a new column. To do this, press TAB.
    • Add a new paragraph to the current column. To do so, press ENTER.
    • Start a new row at the first column. To do so, press ENTER, and then press BACKSPACE to move back through the columns.
    • Move backward through your note. To do this, press Shift+Tab.
