PRB: The Value for Shadow Copy Percentage Used May Not Be Accurate in the Windows Storage Server 2003 WebUI (828737)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003
SYMPTOMSIn the Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 WebUI, you
can use the settings on the Shadow
Copies tab to
configure shadow
copies on the server. When the maximum size of a
shadow volume is configured to No Limit, the value in the Percentage
Used
column for that designated volume indicates that 0% has been used. The
value always remains at 0%, regardless of how much space is actually
used for shadow
copies.
Additionally, if a limit is set,
the percentage that is indicated may not accurately reflect the actual space that
is available.CAUSEIf the shadow volume is configured with no size limit, there
is no way to accurately calculate the percentage that is used.WORKAROUNDTo
work around this problem and
to view the
space
that is used on the hard disk of the designated volume, follow these steps:
- In the WebUI, click the Shadow copies tab, and then select the check box that is next to the volume that you want to view.
- Click
Properties, and then view the value
that appears next to the text, "Total Space Used by shadow copies on
volume".
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
