SYMPTOMS

When you use the scroll wheel on your Microsoft Office keyboard, you have to scroll the wheel more than you expect to receive the result that you want. For example, you may have to scroll the wheel four times to cause a document to advance to the point where you expect to be able to reach by scrolling the wheel one time.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you have the following software and hardware installed on your computer:
  • Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.0 or a later version.
  • One of the Microsoft tilt-wheel mouse devices that is listed in the "Applies to" section.
This issue may also occur when you install the IntelliPoint 5.0 or a later version software and you select a tilt-wheel device during the installation or in Control Panel.

WORKAROUND

You may be able to work around this problem by using one of the following methods.

Note You may not want to perform this workaround because it will turn off the new features such as the tilt wheel and horizontal scrolling.

Select a non-tilt wheel mouse in Control Panel

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Mouse.
  2. Click the Buttons tab, and then select a non-tilt wheel device in the Connected device box.

Remove IntelliPoint 5.0

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. In the left pane, click Change or remove programs, click Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.0 in the list of currently installed programs, and then click Remove.
  3. Follow the prompts to complete the removal process.

STATUS
