SYMPTOMS

When you rapidly rotate the scroll wheel on your mouse, the active window switches continuously through the open windows on your desktop.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when you unintentionally click the wheel when you scroll. When Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.0 or a later version is installed, the default action for a click of the scroll wheel is to bring the next open window to the front.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, configure a different action for a click of the scroll wheel:
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware under Pick a category, and then click Mouse.
  2. Click the Buttons tab, click the action that you want to configure in the Wheel button box, and then click OK.
Note In IntelliPoint versions before version 5.0, the default action for a wheel click was "AutoScroll."
