FIX: Messages Are Lost If the Bridge Cannot Open the Message Queuing Queue (828658)

The information in this article applies to:

  • MSMQ - MQSeries Bridge
  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000
  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 SP1

SYMPTOMS

Messages that are sent to Microsoft Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ) by using the MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge may be permanently lost if the Bridge does not open the Message Queuing queue.

CAUSE

When the MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge does not open a queue because of an error other than "Access Denied," "Queue Not Found," or "Illegal Format Name," the Bridge closes the relevant pipe, discards the messages that it read from the MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge transmission queue, and shuts down its connection to the MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge without closing the associated transaction. By default, the MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge commits its internal transactions if the connection is closed gracefully. When the internal transactions are committed, the messages are removed from the queue. The MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge cannot resend the messages when the connection to Message Queuing is restored because the messages were removed.
