Spell checker does not detect some misspelled words in Word (828656)

SYMPTOMS

When you check the spelling of a document, the spell checker may not detect all the misspelled words.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the Spelling & Grammar options restrict the spelling checker to the main dictionary only.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Spelling & Grammar tab, click to clear the Suggest from main dictionary only check box, and then click OK.
