The original size in the Resize and Crop panes is incorrect when you edit a picture in Picture Manager 2003 (828495)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Picture Manager 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you open and resize a picture that has a resolution that is greater than 640 x 480 pixels in Microsoft Office Picture Manager, the Original Size that is shown in the Resize and Crop panes is incorrectly shown as 640 x 480, not the actual original size of the picture.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs in Picture Manager to enhance performance by displaying a thumbnail of the picture at a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.

RESOLUTION

When the picture is edited, the full image is then loaded. If you look at the zoom ratio, you will notice that it changes from 100% to 50%. This change indicates that the original picture was downloaded.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
