SYMPTOMS

After you apply one or more of the following security updates to the corresponding version of Internet Explorer, third-party programs and the Service Advertising Protocol may not work as you expect.

After you apply the following security update, the Service Advertising Protocol may not work as you expect:

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the version of the Shlwapi.dll file that these security updates install uses a base memory address that is below the 0x7000000 memory address location. Some programs require a non-fragmented memory address space below the 0x7000000 memory address location.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1

To resolve this problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, install security update MS03-048 or a later security update.
