The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
  • Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003

SYMPTOMS

In the either the Chinese-language or the Japanese-language versions of Microsoft Office Visio 2003, you may experience one or both of the following symptoms when you try to change the interval type of bracket interval shapes in your timeline drawing:
  • When you right-click a Bracket interval 1 shape, and then click Show Straight Bracket, the interval type is not changed from a curly bracket ({}) to a straight bracket ([]) as expected. The interval shape is incorrectly changed to a block interval (the Block interval shape).
  • When you right-click a Bracket interval 2 shape, and then click Show Curly Bracket, the interval type is not changed from a straight bracket to a curly bracket as expected. The interval shape is incorrectly changed to a block interval (the Block interval shape).
.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because in the both the Chinese-language and the Japanese-language versions of Microsoft Visio, the interval type of curly and straight bracket shapes in drawings that are based on the Timeline template is not changed correctly when you right-click the shape, and then click either Show Straight Bracket or Show Curly Bracket (as appropriate).
