Some custom property fields are duplicated when you use the Organization Chart Wizard with a Japanese source file in Visio 2003 (827768)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
SYMPTOMSWhen you use the English version of Microsoft Office Visio
2003 to create an organization chart by using the Organization Chart Wizard and
you use a Japanese language source file (Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or text
file), when you view the custom properties of the shapes in the completed
drawing, you notice that there are duplicate field names with the same field
name appearing in both Japanese and English. Also, the English-named fields are
not valid, as they contain a copy of the field name in the value
field.CAUSEThe English properties are part of the Visio masters, and
are always present in the English version of Visio 2003 when you use the
Organization Chart Wizard. The wizard matches properties by name by using a
simple text comparison. Because the wizard cannot equate Japanese words with
English words, any English custom property fields that are part of the masters
appear in the custom properties. The Name and Title English-name fields will
always appear, even if they are not in the masters.STATUS This
behavior is by design.MORE INFORMATIONThis behavior does not occur in Microsoft Visio
2002.
