SYMPTOMSWhen you try to start Microsoft Windows Media Player, you may receive the following error message: Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to shut down - "error

CAUSEThis error may occur if the system time is not set correctly, if the basic input/output system (BIOS) time is not set correctly, or both.RESOLUTIONTo set the correct system time, follow these steps: - Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.
- Click Date and Time.
- In the Date section, click the correct day, month, and year.
- In the Time section, type or select the correct hour, minutes, and seconds.
- Click the Time Zone tab.
- Click to select your time zone from the list of time zones, and then click OK.
