Internet Explorer quits unexpectedly when you try to print or to preview a document (827666)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Web page document in Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then you try to print the document or to click Print Preview on the File menu, you may receive the following error message:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the document was converted to a Web page document by Microsoft Word 2000, Word 2002 or Word 2003, and the document contains a Vector Markup Language (VML) text box.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Internet Explorer 6 service pack that contains this hotfix.

The Japanese version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
