CAUSE
This issue may occur if your IP address cannot be obtained or renewed by your Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server. Specifically, this issue occurs if both of the following conditions are true:
- The DHCP request passes through a Windows 2000 DHCP relay agent.
-and- - The DHCP packet is larger than 576 bytes.
The relay agent does not pass packets that are larger than 576 bytes.
RESOLUTION
Important Apply the following hotfix to the DHCP relay agent computer.
