You cannot use the Undo command to undo an action in your UML Model Diagram template in Visio Professional 2003 (827504)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office Professional Visio 2003, when you use the Unified Modeling Language
(UML) Model Diagram template to create a UML model diagram, you may find that
in certain situations you cannot reverse a change that you made to your diagram
by using the Undo command. You experience the following symptoms when you try to
undo an action:
- The Undo command on the Edit menu is unavailable (appears
dimmed) and is displayed as Can't Undo instead of Undo Action.
- When you use a keyboard shortcut and press CTRL+Z to undo
an action, nothing happens.
CAUSEThis problem may occur if both of the following conditions
are true:
- You use the UML Model Diagram solution to create a UML
model diagram.
- You undo an action that involves one of the following
shapes:
- The Package shape in the UML
Deployment stencil.
- The Composite State shape in the
UML Statechart stencil.
- The Package shape or the
Subsystem shape in the UML Static Structure
stencil.
- The Package shape in the UML
Use Case stencil.
In this situation, you cannot undo a change that you made to
your diagram after you undo an action that involves one of the shapes in the
UML stencils in the list. When you undo an action that involves one of the
shapes in the list, the previous actions that you performed are incorrectly
removed from the list of actions that you can undo. As a result, you experience
the symptoms that are described earlier in the "Symptoms" section of this
article when you try to undo an action. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, do not use the Undo command to undo the change that you made to the diagram. Instead,
manually perform the action that you require. For example, if you added a shape
to your drawing and you want to undo this action, manually delete the shape
from your drawing page.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
