Font overrides that you apply to Mtext objects are not retained when you open and view a CAD drawing in Visio 2003 (827501)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2003
- Microsoft Office Visio Standard 2003
SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office Visio 2003, when you open and view a CAD
drawing (.dwg file) that contains multiline text (Mtext), font overrides that
you applied to the text are not retained. For example, if you override a font
that is associated with the Textstyle of an Mtext object by using the Mtext
Editor in AUTOCAD, the change is ignored when you view the CAD drawing in Visio
2003. As a result, the Mtext object is formatted with a font that is not
correct.CAUSEThis issue occurs because font overrides of AUTOCAD Mtext
objects are not supported in Visio 2003 when you open and display a CAD
drawing. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, convert the CAD drawing to Visio
format (.vsd file). When you do so, the text appears with the correct font. To
convert a CAD drawing to Visio format, follow these steps:
- Start Visio 2003 and open the CAD drawing that you want to
convert.
- Right-click the CAD drawing, point to CAD Drawing
Object, and then click Convert.
- In the Convert CAD Object dialog box,
click to select the check boxes next to the layers that contain the CAD objects
that you want to convert, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
