"Leave at Remote Computer" Sound Option Only Works When You Are Logged On to the Terminal Server by Using a Console Session (827483)

This behavior occurs because if you are not logged on to the terminal server using a console session, your current session may be one of many Terminal Services sessions running at the same time. If each session has the Leave at remote computer sound option enabled, and if sound plays on the terminal server from sessions other than the console session, many sounds might play at the same time. Because of this, when a Terminal Services client connects to the terminal server by using a session other than the console session, the effective sound setting is Do not play, even though the Leave at remote computer option is selected. Sounds only play on the terminal server when you connect by using a console session.

To configure the Remote computer sound option on a computer where Remote Desktop Connection is installed, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.
2. Click the Local Resources tab, and then click the option that you want in the Remote computer sound list.
3. When you are finished configuring options for this connection, click Connect.
