Computer Stops Responding After You Install Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum (827329)

SYMPTOMSWhen you restart your computer after you install Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum, the computer may stop responding. The computer may display a black screen after the power-on self test (POST) runs.CAUSEThis problem occurs because of device conflicts with the CD-ROM driver.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, repair the Windows installation. To do so, follow these steps: - Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer.
- When prompted, press SPACEBAR to start from the CD.
- Type r to repair the Windows installation.
- Type the administrator password to log on to the Recovery Console.
- Change to the Windows\System32\Drivers folder. To do
so, type chdir system32\drivers at the C:\Windows
prompt, and then press the ENTER.
- Type rename Cdr4_xp.sys Cdr4_xp.old, and them press the ENTER.
- Type rename Cdralw2k.sys Cdralw2k.old, and them press the ENTER.
- Type rename Cdudf_xp.sys Cdudf_xp.old, and them press the ENTER.
- Type exit, and then press the ENTER key to exit the Recovery Console and to restart the computer.
